Mission Statement of Ducks Unlimited

The mission of Ducks Unlimited is to fulfill the annual life cycle needs
of North American waterfowl by protecting, enhancing, restoring and
managing important wetlands and associated uplands.

Great Lakes Initiative 

Under threats from industrial and commercial development, as well as
agriculture, the Great Lakes ecosystem desperately needs a major conservation effort. 

DU's Great Lakes Initiative identifies and implements conservation programs designed to protect, enhance, and restore the diversity of wetland types and uplands in the region. 

The focus of the program, truly international in scope, will be in the
coastal marshes and key river watersheds influencing waterfowl
habitat and water quality of the Great Lakes. 

The results of this program will be a rejuvenated Great Lakes system which will not only enjoy improved wildlife habitat, but also improved water quality and general ecosystem health.
